Dr. Sajed Kamal
Sajed Kamal is currently active in the Sustainable International Development
(SID) program at Brandeis University, USA. (http://www.heller.brandeis.edu/sid/cid_projects_bangladesh.htm)
With more than twenty-five years of experience in the field, he speaks
and consults on solar energy internationally, setting up pilot projects
in the USA, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, India and Armenia and assisting programs
in Latin America, Europe and Africa. He is the president of the non-profit
corporation International Consortium for Energy Development as well as
being on the Board of Directors of the Boston Area Solar Energy Association,
a member of the Steering Committee of Solar Boston (a partner of the US
Department of Energy's Million Solar Roofs Initiative), and a member of
the Union of Concerned Scientists, American Solar Energy Society, and
International Solar Energy Society.
Professor Kamal has taught at Boston University, Northeastern University
and Antioch New England Graduate School. Also a poet, artist, educational
consultant, psychotherapist, translator and published author of several
books and articles in various areas, his forthcoming books include The
Solar Revolution: The Energy Solution for a Sustainable Earth.
Born in West Bengal, India, he grew up in what is now Bangladesh until
immigrating to the USA in 1963. He received his undergraduate and graduate
degrees in economics and education from Northeastern University and his
Ph.D. in humanistic studies from Boston University.
