a mature and effective communicator to take on a new role within
the organisation. They need somebody with highly developed skills
in fundraising, public relations, or corporate communications to
help us to implement an ambitious plan to develop our corporate
fundraising. You will be responsible for maintaining and building
the current relationships, and running emergency appeals with them.
You will also develop our understanding of the institutions involved,

Research Coordinator

The Natural Resources Management (NRM) Unit spreads awareness about
the relevance of community/people-based water management techniques.
Responsibilities of Research Coordinator would include: Lead the
Jal Swaraj Campaign that promotes rainwater harvesting as a tool
to define the role of the people in water management. As a part
of this, conduct extensive research in both rural and urban sectors
on the relevance of RWH; Conduct incisive research on complex water
related issues--specifically in the context of the rural sector.
These include the role of village institutions in water management;
emergence of local leaders, and the track record of NGOs and the
government in this social process; Work on issues focussing on urban
water use—technologies of sewage treatment, wastewater recycle
and reuse; politics of water tariff and consumption pattern of the
urban Indians; Network continuously with people working on water—all
aspects of it---in India and abroad. Our platforms of communication
are newsletters, websites and Down To Earth; Develop communicative
training modules with the aim to educate, disseminate and change.

The Poverty and Environment Team prepares studies and report on
participatory management of natural resources through the empowerment
of poor urban and rural communities. The unit’s objective
is to analyse the environmental causes of poverty and push for environmental
solutions. Advocate alternative approaches to livelihood security
and policy changes. Review best practices in natural resource management
and develop tools for assessment of the impact of these practices
on the rural economy. Responsibilities of Research Coordinator would
include: Should be able to evolve and manage an advocacy programme
on the linkages between environment and poverty. The position involves
extensive policy tracking, analysis and timely intervention for
policy changes. The candidate should be comfortable in writing in
journalistic time frame with academic rigour; To monitor policy
development and to evolve strategy for intervention; To oversee
research and writing of policy briefing papers; To maintain a network
of community groups, NGOs and policy makers in the livelihood sector;

To take our Web initiative to stratospheric levels, we are looking
for a person who understands the enormous possibilities that the
medium offers, and can provide dynamic leadership to galvanise CSE’s
Web set up. CSE’s Website team currently manages six websites
(including a magazine site, a specialised library website and an
e-commerce site) and four newsletters. Together, these interactive
e-tools add punch to CSE’s advocacy campaigns and environmental
policy change initiatives by building and nurturing an ever-expanding
global network of friends, supporters, concerned citizens and policy
makers. We are now looking at exciting new technologies to augment
our information outreach capabilities. At the same time, we are
exploring innovative means to enhance user experience and implement
globally acknowledged Web, content and database management practices.
Responsibilities include: Ensure strict content quality control;
effectively package, design content; Coordinate and liase with various
CSE units for Web-enabled content; Plan, organise and execute Web-centric
advocacy initiatives; Coordinate with vendors and external developers;
Oversee SEO and Search Engine submissions; Web analytics and monitor
visitor behaviour; Manage e-newsletters; e-mail metrics; Online
contact database administration, improve contact list hygiene, etc.
