Field Report:
SARID relief effort to concentrate on Sri Lankan
east coast
Vinod Moonesinghe, Colombo, Sri Lanka, January 6, 2005
SARID will be operating in areas in Sri Lanka not yet reached by the Army and/or government transport. As the South is inundated with supplies we shall be concentrating on smaller centres in the East that are suffering, and whose needs are urgent. These are areas the larger NGOs will not go out to, due to logisitics.
The SARID relief team is in touch with other local NGOs and the regional governments of the affected areas, who are informing us what the needs of particular districts are.
